THE STORY (THE SHORTENED VERSION)
It all started at a backpackers lodge in the historic winelands town of Stellenbosch. A beer between housemates and a conversation about just how much love we have for this country turned into an idea. “We need to be doing more than just telling people where to go and what to do. Let’s take them there and share in the experiences”. So that’s exactly what we did, taking first time visitors, exchange students and experiences in and around Cape Town and the Western Cape, we got a real kick out of it! At first, it was a fantasy to turn our weekend ventures in our day jobs, 4 years later it’s a very surreal reality.
“I dislike the term ‘tour guide’ to be honest, it’s misleading. We’re tour companions, we’re more than drivers and commentators, more than knowledge banks and experts. We’re advocates of our country, supporters of locals, creators and designers of experiences. We’re the first port of call and the new best friend to the traveler, we should never lose sight of that.”
In our attempt to give back to communities in need we have teamed up with the Kaalvoet Mzansi Foundation.
’Kaalvoet’ - Afrikaans word for barefoot
’Mzansi’ - Informal Xhosa word for South Africa
Enabling learners to become positive role models and productive citizens. Their vision is to open doors for learners in various schools by maximizing community investment through the Kaalvoet Mzansi Foundation. Through collecting and delivering school shoes to learners, it serves as a symbol of hope and allows the opportunity to engage with learners. Reveler Tours has committed to donating 5 pairs shoes to the foundation for every 10th tour sold.
