The Whales of Walker Bay

Whales and Penguins Coastal Experience
(Available July - December)

Every year for 5-6 months the area of Walker Bay near the town of Hermanus attracts of the world’s most sought after mammals, the Southern Right Whale. Migrating from Antarctica, they arrive in the waters of the bay with one intention; to mate and calve. We’ve created an experience that allows you to get closer to them than ever before. You’ll board a luxury charter boat and head out onto the open ocean for your time with the whales. Lunch at a wine estate coupled with a tasting of the best cool climate wines the region has to offer followed by a visit to one of only 2 African Penguin colony’s on the continent makes for a memorable day out

Southern Right Charters.jpg

Southern right beauties

After a 90 minute drive we team up with the best in the Whale Watching Business, Southern Right Charters. The trip departs at 9am and you’ll be accompanied by a specialist whale guide and dedicated crew on-board their impressive boat, all set for a great morning! The trip includes snacks and refreshments

The general experience time is 2 hours but it’s not capped at that. This is a must do for any ocean and/or whale enthusiast.

Lagoon lunch & wines

After your time with the whales we head out to the Benguela Cove Complex. Moody Lagoon, the restaurant is an elevated setting with expansive views of the lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean.

You’ll be treated to a tasting of any 5 of the estate’s wines by the wine ambassador before enjoying a well deserved lunch. Wines can also be paired with locally produced cheeses or chocolates.

The Penguins of Stony Point

THE PENGUINS OF STONY POINT

One of 2 places in the world where you can get this close to the African Penguin. These friendly little guys have been kind enough to share their spectacular beach with us. Elevated boardwalks wind their way through the dunes and vegetation and not only provides great viewing spots, but also protects nesting penguins and their chicks

This beach at Stony Point is more pleasant than the Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach due to a smaller amount of tourists.

Clarence Drive.jpg

“a drive home to remember'“

Some say this could be the most scenic drive in the world, we tend to agree but we’ll let you form your own opinion. Clarence drive provides the setting for our trip home. Built into the rock faces of Koel Bay, just a few feet above the ocean in places.
