Taste and be merry, the Gin Jive departs from the Cape’s strong wine culture for a full day tour of 3 distilleries, each with their own unique charm and pleasant surprises. The Gin revolution has taken flight in the Mother City and the Winelands regions, we give you a taste of both, capped off a with a late lunch in a Garden Setting.

Our first stop takes us to the famed, artisan suburb of Woodstock and a distillery that celebrates the rich fruits of Cape Town’s natural resources. Simon von der Witt is well known as one of the pioneers of the craft gin scene in Cape Town.
The use of indigenous local fynbos (The cape’s most prevalent plant species) coupled with a sheer passion for creating fine craft liquors results in a tasting experience to delight your taste buds. The way perfect start to your day. It’ll be a 12 o’clock somewhere already ;)
CRAFT GINS & CLASSIC CARS
We head north toward the Stellenbosch mountains to discover a location with over 50 different gin tasting options. It’s an impressive set up and we’re not just talking about the selection. The Classic Cats Gin Bar boasts the largest selection of South African Craft Gins countrywide. We’ll select 3 gins based on your flavour preferences and go on a 3 part tasting journey as their expert team suggests.
The tasting room also has a few classic cars for you to marvel at while you sip on your umpteenth gin of the day.
You’re hungry, we know!
Our final location is one of the real attractions of the region; Spice Route in Paarl. A number of lunch options are available on site. I suggest the La Grapperia Bistro; expansive views of the Paarl and Stellenbosch Mountains coupled with a selection of wood-fired pizzas, pastas, grills and more!
After lunch you'll be treated to the products of one of the pioneers of the gin industry in SA. The Wilderer Fynbos Gins laid the foundation for the use of fynbos in white spirits. The tasting consists of one neat taster, two unique mini G&T’s & one classic Gin cocktail...
